What is Implant?
Implants are titanium screws placed in the jaw bone in order to restore the lost dentition. They are widely used both in single and multiple tooth loss. As they are placed in and integrated to bone, biting and chewing function is comparible to the natural dentition.

For which patients is implant treatment applicable?
Implant is a gold standart treatment method for patients who are missing at least one tooth in the mouth. A detailed information is taken from the patient regarding his/her systemic diseases, medications used and smoking habit. A 3-D digital tomography is taken in order to evaluate the jaw bone dimensions. After a thorough examination, suitable patients are treated with implants
Why is Implant Treatment Preferred?
Implant is a reliable and healthy method for the restoration of tooth loss. Tooth loss negatively affects people's aesthetic appearance and impairs oral health. Instead of grinding neighbouring natural teeth or placing removable prosthesis, implants give the best results as they provide a similar appearance and function to the natural teeth.
What are the Steps of Implant Treatment?
Although the order may be different for each patient, in general, the implant application steps are as follows:
- After the clinical evaluation, implant are placed in the bone under local anesthesia in one session.
- If avaliable, a temporary restoration is placed.
- After completion of the healing period, implants are uncovered and impressions are taken.
- Implant supported prosthesis or crowns on implants are prepared and placed.
What are the side effects of the implants?
Implants are made of titanium which is biocompatible with the bone and the soft tissues. Therefore, there are no known or reported side effects.
How long are the implants used?
Implants can be used lifelong if a correct evaluation and placement is performed. The most important factor determining the lifetime of dental implants is the level of oral hygiene. With an optimal placement and restoration, implants serve for a very long time under the annual supervision of the dentist.
